In case you missed it, rather warmly off the E3 2011 press is a fantastic preview of the forthcoming PlayStation Vita title, Uncharted: Golden Abyss:
Acclaimed 1999 PlayStation RPG Persona 2: Innocent Sin is set for release outside of Japan for first time this Autumn; it will be a fully remastered version, with new side quests. There’s still no word on a UK/Europe release but the majority of US releases make their way across the pond eventually. It’s been confirmed that the North American version will be a UMD version, with no word on a PSP download version alongside.
The game is being tweaked to suit its new platform, optimized for the PSP’s 16:9 aspect ratio and given a new interface and additional quests. Innocent Sin will also feature a remixed soundtrack, though purists will be able to play with the original tunes if they prefer.
You can aslo view it’s opening/trailer for this game right now:
Atari have just released their first developer diary from their forthcoming game, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. Showing a glimpse of the main gameplay and a few of the locations, the video explains the basic premise of the game and a short plot summary. Set to be released via PSN (as well as PC and XBLA) on 23rd March 2011, Sanctum of Slime is a four player, ghost-busting adventure that will allow players to suit up with proton packs and assume the role of a rookie hired by the Ghostbusters to save New York City from another ghoulish disaster.
Everyone loves Ghostbusters, so if Atari can pull this off we could be onto a winner. See the trailer for yourself right here:
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated RPGs of the last few years. Following on from the massive success of Oblivion, Skyrim will actually be the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the second on this current generation of consoles. Until now we’ve seen some pretty teaser trailers but they haven’t shown much more than a few glimpses of pre-rendered video. Bethesda have now released the first video to show some proper gameplay – and boy does it look ace! Skyrim is currently scheduled for release in November this year. It’s going to be a long wait, but at least we have Dragon Age II and Two Worlds II to tide us over until then. Check out the video right here:
EA’s big new FPS game Bulletstorm is out on 25th February and in anticipation of its release (read: to get you all excited) they’ve released the launch trailer for the game. For those of you who don’t know what Bulletstorm is, it’s a fast-paced First Person Shooter, developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, set in a futuristic abandoned paradise.
Dr. Michael Capps, President of Epic Games said about Bulletstorm: “People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm.”
Well he won’t have to wait much longer – Bulletstorm is released on Friday.
If you’re not excited about Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3 then either you don’t like RPGs or you’ve been shying away from the news for the last few months. It’s big, it’s brilliant and it’s on its way! Not just to standard retail channels mind you, like other less exciting titles. Mass Effect 2 will be released on PSN in the UK on 21st January at the same time as the retail release. Weighing in at a massive 12GB, there’s no word on pricing yet but prepare to pay full RRP despite the obviously reduced distribution and manufacturing costs of a digital title.
If all of that’s not enough to whet your appetite then we’ve also got the brand new launch trailer for you to see – check it out below:
These ‘Developer Diary’ things seem to be quite en-vogue for some reason but don’t let that put you off! They’re actually pretty interesting and also a good way to break down some of the barriers between developers and consumers. This latest one is about the ‘story’ elements of Dragon Age II, from renowned super-developers Bioware. Specifically, it deals with the change in narrative as a result of making Dragon Age II more focussed on just one character, rather than the massive roster from the original Dragon Age.
Have a look at the video and let us know what you think:
Bulletstorm is a brand new IP being developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, and is set for release on 22nd February 2011. It’s a fast-paced futuristic first person shooter set on an exotic but abandoned paradise at the end of the galaxy, and judging from the trailer it looks pretty awesome. With Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 out around the same time, it’s going to be a crowded market for the FPS market in the first few months of 2011. What do you think of this trailer? Do you think it looks as awesome as we think it does?
You’d be forgiven if you said that you’d never heard of de Blob 2, or even its predecessor de Blob. The original game was a surprise hit on the Nintendo Wii and was eventually ported to iOS devices and Windows Phone 7, but had no release on either PlayStation 3 nor Xbox 360. The sequel takes things a step further than de Blob and is being simultaneously developed for Nintendo Wii, DS, 3DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The general gameplay involves rolling a big blob around the place, painting the environment as you go and bouncing around on platforms. The developers are building on the success of the original game and adding a few new elements like additional types of attack and more emphasis on platforming.
Does that have you interested? Well, check out the brand new announcement trailer to get a glimpse of what’s in store:
