FUEL – Review

“Somewhen in the future, a catastrophe has shaken the world, decimating towns and cities, leaving people to fend for themselves in shelters. What’s left is all but nothing, a desolate landscape with life only just beginning to take hold again. What’s worse, the world’s oil supplies have run out, making transport scarce and FUEL a currency. Your task is to win every single event, and become the champion of all races. Good luck….”

FUEL is an open-world racing game created by Codemasters, a UK based developer with games such as F1 2010 and DiRT 2 to its name. The game revolves around you racing other guys to win fuel, which in turn buys you better vehicles so you can face off against tougher enemies and earn even more fuel. Simple.

Persona 4 – Classic Review

Over the last 10 years from now there have been some great RPG games on the PS2 such as Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud. A lot people I know said that the Persona series was worth checking out so I picked Persona 4 which was the newest game in the series; I think in each Persona game there’s a different story but I could be wrong.

The story for Persona begins with your main character-a silent protagonist which you can name yourself, you get sent to live with your uncle in a sleepy town called Inaba. You get settled into your new school and you’ll make some new friends pretty quickly you’ll become best friends with Yosuke, a hyper-active girl who’s in to Kung-Fu films called Chie and the daughter of a famous family hotel Yukkio. PUBLISHER: Square Europe (PSOne), Square-Enix (PSN)

When Final Fantasy IX was originally released on to the PSOne nearly ten years ago, it struck a mighty chord throughout the franchise of Final Fantasy. Originally built as a spin-off game designed to go back to the roots of the franchise, this title quickly became bigger and bigger until (then) Squaresoft decided to release it as a flagship title.

Years later, it seems many still agree that Final Fantasy IX was the pinnacle of the series, and even now a sizeable amount of the community regard it as the last ‘true’ Final Fantasy to date. Now though, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners have been given the chance to revisit this treasure through a digital download of the original game on the PlayStation Store, but, like Final Fantasy VIII, has it stood the test of time?

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis – Classic Review

Jurassic Park - Operation GenesisMy first steps into the world of gaming were at the age of about 10. The most influential game in my gaming career has to be Jurassic Park operation genesis. It was released on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC, and even today I plug in my dusty PlayStation 2 and play the game that got it all started.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis is a last gen game that was revolutionary at the time, though took influence from Zoo Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon, both of which I enjoyed playing in the past. However, Jurassic Park blows these out of the water. The game allows a vast amount of customisation; you decide the shape of your island, the position of mountains, rivers and trees. Read more

It’s been nearly eleven years since this masterpiece was released on the original Sony PlayStation. After many calls for Sony and Square-Enix to get it on the store, we’ve finally got a version compatible with our PS3s and PSPs. But, like I said, it’s been nearly eleven years since it was released; is this game still as good as it was last decade? All I can say is, yes.
