Originally released a staggering five years ago, Oblivion is being re-packaged and re-released as a 5th Anniversary Edition in North America, with Europe and the rest of the world possibly to follow. The new edition contains the Game of the Year version of Oblivion, along wtih the original ‘making of’ DVD, a map, and a $10 off Skyrim coupon – all packaged in a steelbook case.
Being a relatively old game, the PS3 version of Oblivion didn’t have any Trophy support and for some reason was never given access to any of the extra DLC that the PC and Xbox 360 versions had. Bethesda eventually confirmed that they had ceased work on Oblivion altogether and there was no chance that the PS3 version would get the extra DLC, nor Trophy support. Then a glimmer of hope arrived with an early scan of the box art for the forthcoming 5th Anniversary Edition of Oblivion, set for release next month in North America…
As you can see, the box art clearly states ‘Trophies’ as one of the features of the game. Has Bethesda finally gone back to Oblivion to add Trophy Support? Could they have added support for the extra DLC at the same time? Alas, no.
Over on the official Bethesda blog, eager PS3 gamers flooded the comments with questions about Trophies and DLC. Eventually, one of the offical reps responded with answers to both questions:

Any release for PS3? Trophies and everything?

PC, PS3, and 360. Sorry, no trophies

Clearly this is more for people who haven’t bought Oblivion or haven’t bought the DLC and might of broken their disk and can get it cheap while also getting some cash back if they buy Skyrim.
All in all sounds like a good offer. But yes we’re still wondering if all the small DLC like horse armor is included too. If not fine.
Oblivions a great punch of value for people who buy it, not the best RPG ever but still fun.

It’s the core game, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. The DLC are not included.
So there you go folks, no chance for Trophies and no DLC included. While this doesn’t technically rule out the possibility of the DLC appearing on the PSN Store, Bethesda’s earlier confirmation that they’ve stopping working on Oblivion isn’t changed by this latest re-release – so basically, no, there won’t ever be DLC for the PS3 version.
Still, at least Skyrim’s only just around the corner…

In the GOTY-edition of Oblivion the game is packed with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. That’s something a PS3-fan of Oblivion should pick up for less than 25€.
Damn sure I would have replayed the game is Trophy Support would have been added, but then again: bethesda should bring it as a patch.
Would boost the Name “Elder Scrolls” heavily on the PSN-usernames if they would release a trophy patch.
Nevertheless, Skyrim is the game to get!
Yeah, this 5th Anniversary Edition is exactly the same as the old Game of the Year Edition, it just comes with a bunch of extra tat.
It’s a real shame that Bethesda don’t think it’s worth going back to add Trophy support. I imagine a lot of people would re-buy it just for that, let alone those who would re-buy it for the extra DLC if they made that available too.
As it is, the 5th Anniversary Edition is still a great buy for anyone who hasn’t played Oblivion before, but that’s abou it.
Bethesda, i hope all your mom’s get fat!! And suck my hairy balls!!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“PS3 version of Oblivion didn’t have any Trophy support and for some reason was never given access to any of the extra DLC that the PC and Xbox 360 versions had”
Was there more DLC than Knights of Nine and Shivering Isle? Both are available for PS3.
it’s the game of the year addition repackaged, not worth the money for the $10 discount on skyrim. It’s a very poor attempt at a money grab.
Yeah loads, stuff like Horse Armour, extra quests and a huge Wizard’s Tower to live in!
Bethesda sucks monkey testicles!
@nate-dog7
yes for xbox 360 and PC. you can look up all the DLC us PS3 owners didnt get.. its quite a shame i played all of the other dlc on my xbox 360 and it honestely kicked ass
I am sad to hear the new edition of Oblivion won’t contain trophies. I was planning on buying this, even though I already own a Oblivion GOTY edition. Honestly the game is not worth re-buying or re-playing if it doesn’t contain trophies. There is just no point in putting time into a game if I don’t get a trophy every once in awhile. I’m sure alot of people will agree with me. I’m looking forward to Skyrim, but Bethesda you really made a huge mistake, Sorry.
well.. that sucks but, objectively speaking, if they’re rehasing the game to get even more income outof it, they have not abandoned it, technically speaking. ergo, it still is a full-fledged product that deserves attention from all sides.
I really don’t know what website to belive. Some websites say it will come with trophies and others like this website say it won’t. I’m just going to buy it anyways and find out when I start up the game. I’ve seen the pics of the stuff it comes with plus it’s only 30$ with a 20$ rebate towards Skyrim. If you are a true fan then you wont get another chance to get collectors items for 10$, but it would be alot better with trophies.

As sad as it makes me to say this, there is no way that this version of Oblivion will feature PS3 Trophies – Bethesda themselves have confirmed it on their blog. If they were going to add them, they’d have made a big announcement by now – same thing with the DLC.
It’s a real missed opportunity.
I have buddys that work at Gamestop and I went it to ask about it. They already have the game in the back ready to be sold. There are NO trophies. I was so pissed when they showed me. Trust me, im not lying because I was definitely looking forward to this. Im just letting you all know now that it doesn’t have it.
Really dissapointed in Bethesda for the lack of trophy support and the extra DLC’s.
I bought this game for the PC long time ago, but I’ve never finished, or even reached 20% completion. This is a MUST-HAVE for me (I live in Portugal, Europe) and when it comes here, I will buy it, day one ! But yeah, as many of you said, this is a great edition but it should have trophies.
I’m VERY happy for this edition.
A little big sad there aren’t trophies.
My friends and i would have all without any doubt replayed Oblivion in pure ecstacy if they had added new achievments. All four of us have have completed every Oblivion achievment as well as all the DLC G’s. We all unanomously agree that Oblivion is the best game ever made still to this day…Now none of us will replay. What a waste…However, we are all obviously highly anticipating Elder Scrolls V which will most likely be the only game to de thrown Oblivion which will only fall to 2nd best game ever made.
If you have not played Oblivion what are you reading this for? Go out and get it now! Just be ready to be in Nirvana.
I agree that it’s a shame 5th anniversary isn’t gonna include trophies…or all that extra dlc. It’s not only a shame but bad business. While I understand not everyone cares for trophies… the content and trophy support would of brought in much more sales than this rehash will. Just the comments on this site and countless others is proof of that much. I’m pretty much done with bethesda as a whole… they are horribly unproffessional and now apparently dismissive. I’ve enjoyed a few of their games but between titles being nearly unplayable out of the box, patches breaking them when they DO work with countless bugs and the attitude of the company as a whole … that’s it for me. While I wouldn’t buy another bethesda product if you paid me.. I hope skyrim is phenomenal for those that do.
I am officially boycotting Bethesda due to this. What, is the PS3 an eyesore to your company or something? WTF?!? No DLC for the THIRD TIME THE GAME WAS RELEASED!!! Just for the record, I sold my GOTY edition for $10 to a friend, so I got my money’s worth for that sad excuse for a rerelease. And when Skyrim comes out I won’t buy it, but I’ll own it, if you catch my drift. I have five fingers. If they won’t release the DLCs ever, I will not fund their future projects by purchasing anything they release. Why pay anything to a company that treats the very console company I own like shit! Fuck you Bethesda!!! This is the last time I will give you ANY money. From now on, I will steal all the products I want with your name on them, hahaha! Us players need to stop supporting pathetic marketing schemes like these. Bethesda, Activision, Square-Enix, it’s got to stop!
Actually, the DLC has to be coming. On the back of the box it says “Downloadable Content.” I purchased it yesterday.
That would be amazing but I’m not going to get my hopes up – there technically is DLC on the US PSN Store as The Shivering Isles is on there. It’s not available on the EU Store however, so if the eventual European release still says ‘DLC available’ then you might be right. I’m not that fussed about Trophies but if the DLC is coming then I’m definitely going to buy this (again!).
