After last week’s slight lull in terms of downloadable content, this episode is shaping up to be great. Contained in this week’s pack is a nifty preview of Gran Turismo 5 as well as the upcoming PlayStation Move. On the screenshots side of things, we’ve got some lovely pictures of Medal of Honor and SOCOM IV with another four (yes four!) games to look at in glorious HD. Included in the Network Highlights section is a round up of PSN as well as some nice LBP Top Levels. And for those who’ve yet (?) to download the Just Cause 2 Parachute, you have another chance to grab it.

The downloadable content section is a downfall for me…

Yeah it is a bit, although the team have said not to expect new content every week, and to think of betas and minis etc. as a bonus. By no means are the downloads the only reason I buy FirstPlay, it’s just nice to have a little extra something waiting for you.
I think they probably set themselves up for a fall by providing content for the first two and now people are expecting new content each week. I think they should really focus on themes, Home objects and avatars – the kind of things that people like but don’t generally like spending money on. Hopefully next week will see something new…
I would like some avatars, themes etc. too. As much as I like the idea of exclusive in-game items, it can quickly whittle down the audience who are interested in the download. The Just Cause 2 Parachute, for example, makes no difference to me as I don’t have the game.
I would also like to see some extra benefits (aside from a lower cost) of subscribing to FirstPlay or even the OPM mag, but avatars, themes and home items will do me just fine!
